Management

Management Structure

Berkshire HA is run through a Management Committee elected every year at the AGM comprising 3 Senior Officers, Committee Members, a Director of Coaching and a Representative from England Hockey Board. Pitch side management is run at the direction of the Director of Coaching� through a suitably qualified Head Coach, normally with a pitch-side Squad Manager in Attendance.

Senior Officers

President is responsible for the strategic and executive leadership of the Association in promoting, facilitating and supporting hockey across Berkshire.

Hon Treasurer is responsible to prepare regular financial statements showing a fair and true reflection on the financial affairs of BHA and to ensure financial control is maintained over the assets and liabilities of the Association.

The Hon Secretary is responsible for co-ordination and reporting of Management Committee meetings, AGMs and any EGMs. The role is also main point of communications between BHA and external organisations (including hockey clubs in and out of Berkshire) on business matters.

Management Committee Members

Vice-President Girls is responsible for close liaison with the Director of Coaching on administrative support for the Single System training programmes. The VP Girls is responsible for the successful delivery of the programme to girls across Berkshire including the recruitment and support for Squad Admin Managers for each age group.

Vice-President Boys is responsible for close liaison with the Director of Coaching on administrative support for the Single System training programmes. The VP Boys is responsible for the successful delivery of the programme to boys across Berkshire including the recruitment and support for Squad Admin Managers for each age group.

Schools liaison Officer is responsible for managing a schools working group to promote participation and competition at school level across Berkshire

South Liaison Officer is responsible for attending and participating in relevant Southern Counties HA promoting the interests of Berkshire HA at such gatherings.

Child Welfare Officer provides the independent safeguarding route for the protection of children participating in training programmes promoted and facilitated through Berkshire HA. This position is one where training is provided and has a direct liaison with child protection officers across Berkshire and to England Hockey Board.

Seniors Section Officer is responsible for co-ordinating the requirements of the adult game in Berkshire by working with the clubs.

Director of Coaching is an appointed position and is responsible for the technical development of coaching programmes, coaches and the pool of coaching talent within the County.

Training Programme & Field Management Structure

Age Group Head Coach is responsible to the Director of Coaching for the delivery of approved training to a an age group. Normally this position requires a EHB Level 2 Coaching Qualification and is held for a year and will include JDC and JAC Programme responsibility. They have responsibility for all the action taking place on a pitch but may chose to delegate some responsibilities to Squad Admin Managers.

Assistant Coaches work under the supervision of a Head Coach and the Director of Coaching and may work across several age groups as directed. Normally Assistant Coaches hold at least a EHB Level 1 Coaching Qualification.

Squad Admin Managers are appointed by the relevant VP and provide the admin support to the Head Coach for each age group and an alternative person to the Head Coach for parents and players to speak to with any concerns they may have.�Squad Managers�work closely with the Head Coach to ensure communications about venues, selection and travelling arrangements allowing the Head Coach to concentrate on technical development of the players.�Squad Managers�are normally willing parents of players in an age group. They have responsibility for some child Health and Safety aspects of signing players in and out from parents. For girl squads with a male Head Coach a female Squad Manager will be preferred. Squad Managers�do not need first aid certificates or CRB clearances.
