County Round Yazoo National Mini Hockey Competition
Mini hockey is a 7-a-side game played across half of a full sized pitch. Girls and boys can participate in this high scoring, fast moving, fun game of hockey. This style of hockey is intended as an introductory part of a players development towards the full game of hockey.
This years competitons are being held on 9th March 2008 at 3 venues throughout Berkshire:
Boys Under 11 - Reading HC starting at 0910
Girls Under 11 - Reading HC starting at 0910
Boys Under 13 - Wellington College starting at 0930
Girls Under 13 - Charters School, Sunningdale starting at 0930
Every player receives a certificate from the sponsors confirming their participation. The winners and the runners up (and in the case of the Girls U11 the third placed team) all receive medal and qualify to play in the South Divisional Rounds. These will be played on the 26th April 2008 (Girls U11 & 13) and 27th April 2008 (Boys U11 & 13). The winners of the various age groups then go forward to the National Finals which are held in May.
Last season Reading Girls U11 went on to win the Divisional Round and represent the South in the National Finals. This was the first time that a Berkshire side has progressed to the finals day where they came a creditable 4th.
