All umpiring matters in Berkshire come under the watchful eye of the Berkshire Hockey Umpires Association. BHUA organises coaching, development and qualification opportunities for anyone interested in becoming an umpire.

Umpire Progression

The Ladder

Below is a list showing the career progression for hockey umpires.
The Young Umpire Award is the most junior and the list progresses to the most senior that can be awarded by the national association.

Young Umpire Award
Aimed mainly at mini hockey
 Foundation Umpire Award
For young and occasional club umpires and teachers
Level One Register
Aimed at umpires who wish to umpire at first XI county league standard
Level Two Register
Aimed at umpires who wish to umpire at first XI divisional (e.g. South) league games
Level Three Umpire
Aimed at umpires who wish to umpire at lower levels of the national league.
National Badge Umpire
Aimed at individuals who wish to umpire at all levels within England Hockey.
