Berkshire Academy

The Berkshire Academy in a part of the England Hockey Single System vision of a pathway from junior beginners to internationals and delivers that part of a player's progression from School and Junior Club level hockey to elite performance across a region and ulimately to the opportunity to represent your country at an international level.

The Academy comprises 2 levels of coaching.

The entry level is by nomination from schools and clubs to our Junior Development Centres. These have been designed by our Technical Director of Coaching to offer a structured programme of training sessions with the aim of developing and improving essential hockey skills. They are organised by age groups and genders. Players attending the Berkshire Academy Development Centres will also receive written feedback on their strengths and areas for further development.

Progression to level 2, the Academy, is by selection and will normally only be offered to the best 16 players who will go on to represent the Academy in matches against other academies across the Country. The Academy will therefore focus coaching on team play, tactics and further skills development.
