The Single System

England Hockey's Single Structure

The best and most detailed information on England Hockey's Single System initiative can be obtained from the England Hockey web site. The important message is that our activities are now a part of a much bigger programme of events and activities that align junior hockey in this Country.

The Berkshire Academy and our Development Centres are shown in the illustration as the lower blue (and upper yellow) boxes with the next stage for our better players being an invitation to attend a Regional Junior Performance Centre.

Clearly, player development takes time and usually more than 1 season. The second illustration plots how a player can be nominated from school or junior club and progress through successive development centres and academies (run by County organisations, like Berkshire HA) , regional performance centres (run by the South) to international representation at Under 16 and Under 18 levels.
